Cultural anthropologists have defined socialization as the process by which we learn to get along with each other. What are the factors that you think would affect how traditional tribal peoples get along with each other. How would ours be in modern day America? Which do you think would have the most difficulty getting along with each other—the tribal culture, or those who live in a modern urban society like America?

I have to say that those who live in a more urban society would have more difficulty getting along. Mainly because those in traditional tribal groups are going to only have the concerns of where their next meal will come from, having a dry, comfortable(cool in summer/warm in winter) place to sleep and having warm clothes or furs to keep them warm in winter. We as a "civilised society" have put so much emphasis on having a nicer car, having the fancier clothes ect. and have made getting food easy to a certain extent that we no longer have any common unifier.

I'm neither an anthropologist nor a psychologist. But I pay attention. If you notice any time you have a group of over around 30 people you have problems. It is my belief that our basic operating systems are based on the hunter gatherer culture. Where small groups of 30 or so people worked together to survive.

Over that number we divide ourselves into them and us. If we're different colors that makes it easy. If not we wear different clothes, uniforms, shirts and skins, Clans or tribes. Its all the same just a way for us to know the difference between them and us.

Bottomline is I don't see us as more like tribal cultures than not. In fact the Urban people are in reality divided into smaller groups than tribal people or people from smaller towns. For example a person from a small school with say less than 50 students per grade, probably any of the students could name around 75 kids from the school including all of their class. Whereas a school of 400 or more students per class each student might be able to name and be recognized by maybe 20 or 30.
