on every visit my doctor check my weight, urine test, ultrasound and scanning. during which i could ask for a print of my foetus in my womb so i can frame it up nicely.
during the scanning my doctor would measure the foetus as seen on the screen and explain to me how my baby has grown, checking the bones, eyes etc.

this is my first child and every doctor varies, i would assume, but at my doctor's office, they do require a urine sample at every appt. I'm 23 weeks and have been to the doctor about 5 times, the 2 times that they didn't do an ultrasound, they listened to the heartbeat with the monitor. I didn't, but i'm sure you can request to listen to the heartbeat everytime. And after the basics of the visit, the doctor will probably want to talk to you about the results of any tests they've done, the baby itself, any questions you may have, and any prescriptions, pamphlets or anything else he may want to give to you. hope this helps.

Well, I can't tell you what every doctor does, but I can tell you what mine did. Every appointment I had to provide a urine sample, get the basics (weight, blood pressure, etc.), my belly was measured, and they listened to the heartbeat. They did take the heartbeat during the ultrasound appointments too. Then they would ask if I had any questions/concerns and tell me what to expect until the next appointment. I did have blood drawn a couple of times for standard tests, but I don't remember exactly when. They usually tell you in advance when they will do that. That was pretty much it until the end of the pregnancy... when they started checking me for dilation and effacement.
I hope that helps.

How many months are you? Ultra sounds supposenly are only done 1 or 2 times and they do it with a doppler if you are like 2 or 3 months because it is so small. Later in the last 2 months they start to listen to your babys heartbeat, and yes they take a urine test every time for the last month.

At my doctor they did bloodwork, urine, and a pelvic the first exam. Then, at 12-14 weeks they can detect the heartbeat. Your urine, BP, weight, and fetal heartbeat will be checked at every appointment. You don't get bloodwork done (if everything is going normally) until about 28-32 weeks (I can't rememeber for sure) for the glucose test. Then at 36 weeks they start doing pelvics again to check for dialation and effacement. When they do your ultrasound they usually ask you if you want to listen to the heartbeat during the ultrasound or not. Even if you choose not to listen, they are able to monitor the heartbeat to make sure everything is normal.

More than likely, you'll have to pee at every visit. They like to monitor for proteinuria. At every visit they'll listen to the heartbeat with the doppler, but at the ultrasound you'l hear it also. The ultrasound using the same principle, so when they see it on the screen, they can let you hear it at the same time! Congratulations and Good luck!

When I was pregnant I had to pee in the cup every time and they also have to listen to the heartbeat every time. They can check the heartbeat and I think the respiration's of your baby when they do the Doppler also.

Every time you see your midwife she should ask you to do a urine sample and she checks it to make sure there are no signs of protein,(this tells her if your kidneys are coping ok,) its tested for presence of sugar(high sugar shows signs of diabetes) and its tested for ketones. All the above can be monitored and treated and can change at any time, this is why its done so often. The midwife will always listen to the baby's heart beat. When you go for you ultrasounds they concentrate more on the baby's organs although they do check the heart beat and chambers of the heart and you can see it beating on the screen.
Good luck xx
