The person you are talking to does not understand a word...you might as well be talking to a brick wall...

Well as u may know a brick wall wont or cant talk and a walk that is made of brick is very strong, so talking to a person who is like a brick wall means that the person is stubborn and wont change his opinion or listen to ur point of view or that this person wont respond to ur suggestions, concerns etc.

It means that you are talking to someone in which you can't hope to get a response. It's useless, as if they can't even hear you. Like talking to a wall.
