Realistically, she probably needs to sit and think about what resources she has. She obviously needs to get a job- some folks still hire illegal people whether we like it or not. Since her daughter is presumably here under state custody, I imagine your friend wants to remain here as well. She should look for homeless shelters, apply for food stamps, and maybe temporary aid to needy families. She may want to contact the consulate's office for her country and see what help is available there as well. In most states, it is generally not required to be a citizen to receive public assistance. You friend needs shelter, work and a plan to make it...Perhaps she should seek the assistance of social agencies such as United Way, Red Cross, Salvation Army, or churches, as well as hispanic associations. I wish her all the best!

Can you take her down to the local welfare office.
The first thing she needs to do is to get a place so that she can get her daughter back.
The courts wont give her back to her mother if the mother is homeless.
Once she gets a place of her own, the court will probably have some other requirements for her to complete (parenting classes etc).
Whatever they are maybe you can help her by continuing to be a friend while she sorts out this mess.
Any chance that they child's father is a citizen.
If so maybe he can be of assistance
