I'm sorry-Does anyone really believe the line, " I think therefore I am."?

I think, therefore I am [a thinking person]. Yes, a philosophical concept which suggests that if one can think of one's existence, then one exists as a thinker of existence. Remember, one of the premises of the Matrix movies was that we all live in an illusion...except for a few who are able to move outside and observe those who are living in the illusion. Only those outside could make the statement "I think, therefore I am". Those who lived their entire lives in the illusion didn't "think", they only reacted. It might be argued that most of us live in an illusion of our own creating...but then that's another philosophical question.

"Cogito Ergo Sum" It is a philosophical statement... meaning that I know I exist because I am wondering about it. That in itself makes me know I exist.
It is fundamental in Western philosophy. It is actually pretty fascinating stuff, albeit sometimes tough to work through as is most philosophy... ! But worth it!

This page might give some insight in layman's terms.
Good luck! :)
