I am a international student learning in UNSW. We were required to conduct a interview with an Australian as our coursework. Ask him/her "what does it mean to you to be an Australian?". Is there any Australian who can answer this question? Please indicate your age,sex and birthplace behind your answer.

i emailed you my response .. it was a little too detailed and most likely boring for people to read.. BUT in summary ..

I see it as my good fortune to be born in this country.

24/f/newcastle... not much really it is the country where i was born... Australia has great beaches, i can get financial assistance and social security when studying (we are reported to have the best social security in the world). it seems we take on things from other countries - tv(so much american stuff and home and away and neighbours are pretty bad), food (is there anything truly aussie exept lammingtons and pavlova - there are not many people who would know how to use bush foods).....
