It is often said that respect is of the up-most importance. I agree with this 100% but what about you?
My Questions:
How do you view Respect?
How do you show Respect?
Do you think Respect is of upmost importance?
Where is Respect dirived from?
Why is it so hard to Respect those you despise?
Should you give Respect to those who don't Respect you?
You don't have to answer all of these, but please explain your answers.
Thanks!!!

Please note: I am simply looking for people's opinions on the matter. I will read everyone's point of view, and i will pick the one that is the most logical and/or best explained.

Respect to me is treating people how you want to be treated. No one wants to be treated like crap so why do so many people treat other people like that?
It should not matter how much money you have, the job you have, the car you drive, where you live, etc, what matters is the fact that we are all humans derived from the same rib (if you believe in that) or evolved from the same species (if you believe in that). Every single person in the world has a life to live and they should be able to live it without being out down by others. I used to work at a fast food store and I was not treated with respect by a lot of people. I worked there for three years and earnt my own money but still I was treated like a piece of crap. I think that is very disrespectful.
I show respect by being polite, always using my manners (are please and thank you really that hard to say?), listening to other people's opinions and beliefs without judging and using eye contact when speaking with someone.
I think respect is of the upmost importance. I just think that there is no need to treat anyone else poorly, we are all in this rollercoaster ride called life together.
I think it can be hard to respect people you do not like because quite often the reason you do not like the person is because your beliefs, opinions and morals are different. Some people do not like to hear any other opinion but their own and this can make it hard to think kindly of that person. Why listen to what they have to say when they will not give you the same courtesy? It comes back to treating others how you want to be treated.
I think you should give respect to people who do not respect you. Why stoop to their level? Set an example for your children and for other people by giving them respect and treating them kindly, even if they do not deserve it.

Respect is the state where a person can interact with another with no malice, jealousy, or any negative emotion. It is simply appreciating the person for who they are.
I personally show respect by bwing my head to the people I respect. I'm don't normally greet people I know unless they greet me first, but people I respect get a different treatment. I would bow my head, or nod, to a person whom I respect, whether they see me or not.
Respect is very important. Respecting someone means that you can work, communicate at a deep level, or just be with them. Respect doesn't mean blind disobedience, in fact, I believe questioning a person is a part of respect.
Gaining respect is different matter for everyone. For example, I give respect to the people I find of good morals and principles. I have had some teachers whom I do not respect (but that doesn't mean I was disrespectful) because they could not inspire me to learn. On the other hand, I have respect for some friends of mine whom I consider true friends.
It's hard to respect one you despise, since despising someone is counteractive to developing respect for them. You can only truly respect them if you can accept them without any negative feelings toward them.
It's not a question of "should". Give respect where it is due, regardless of whether you are respected in return or not. Someone who respects me does not automatically receive my respect, though it's a good start.

Respect is how we think of people. You show respect by calling people by formal names such as Mrs., Mr., etc. Respect is important because our society revolves around it. Without respect we'll destroy each other. Respect is dirived from knowing that a person is worthy of it. Its hard to respect someone that we despise because we probably despise them out of lack of respect, because we feel that they don't deserve it. You should not give respect to those that don't respect you because they don't deserve it.

Showing respect to someone means that u appreciate his/her value
as a unique human being.
If someone shows no respect for u, try to teach him/her (through acting respectfully) what it means. You'll see how immediately or gradually that person tends to change his/ her attitude into a more positive one.

If you don't give it you don't get it. If you don't get it you can't have it. If you can't have it you can't give it.
