My 7 week old is constantly passing gas with a foul odor. I jokingly say she smells like an old man. We switched her formula to soy at the advice of her pediatrician and it's still going on. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what is the cause if any. Is there reason for concern?

I just need to ask what brand formula are you using? because we had our little girl on soy enfamil and she was doing the same thing then we put her on Good Starts Soy and she didn't seem to have any gas problems anymore.

I can also say some people don't seem to understand that just because it's coming out of someone little doesn't mean it's going have that little smell to it. Though some of us wish it would. LOL

Does it smell like roses when you pass gas? I mean, if yours smell like roses, maybe you should be worried, but if yours are a little stinky too, maybe it is hereditary?

I wouldn't worry a lot about smelly farts, but I definately wouldn't use soy. Soy is not good for the health of your baby. I provided a link below that you can read about the dangers of soy.

Good luck!

Is her nose stuffed up? She could be swallowing a lot of air. Also... (I nursed, so I'm not sure) but I think the way you hold the bottle can let too much air through to be swallowed.

Get the liquid gas drops for babies. It will at least help her pass it more comfortably.
