I am 29wks pregnant. I have gained very little weight so far - although my belly has popped up and out (fundal height being 29cm exactly).

I have not purchased maternity clothes.. i simply don't like them. I like the clothes i have now and certain ones are still ok. Some are a bit ... snug! lol. But i just put them to the side and wear what i can fit.

Did anyone else not wear maternity clothes through out there pregnancy?

Also is it probable that i will put a whole lot of weight in my last 11wks? My appetite at the moment is very small and i have to make myself eat.. will this last?

Thanks.

I didn't wear maternity that much throughout my 1st pregnancy nor so far in my current pregnancy, I am 23wks now. Up until last week I wore jeans that were a little loose before pregnancy. Now I have bought some jeans about 2 sizes bigger than prepregnancy size. I wear the cute non maternity tops that look like they should be maternity. I like my clothes, even during pregnancy to be form fitting. I do however have a pair of Seven for All Mankind maternity jeans that I wore during the 2nd and 3rd trimester of my 1st pregnancy, and I have almost grown into them now. They fit like regular jeans low and snug where they should be. If you have a Charlotte Rouse around they sell tops that are perfect during pregnancy! Victoria's Secret has a lot of babydoll camis and even some sweaters that work well also.

Chances are you will gain a good amount during those last weeks. Not only is your belly going to expand more but your breast will also. Just a word of advice watch out for those over sized boobs in some of those non maternity tops! They don't tend to hold them in well! ;)

Good Luck!

My I reccomend GAP Maternity pants? They have a band that just sits on the bottom of your belly. I wore them from the begining bloat, to the full 9 months. I did not gain any weight either except in my belly (from behind, you could not tell I was pregnant) and I LOVED these pants. the band around the top is really soft and smooth. SO comfy. and after you have the baby, the band goes across that jiggly after-belly. It gives you gentle support, helps you be more comfortably, and makes regular shirts fit again very quicky.

Like I said, I went the whole 9 months being a size 6. Just by the end I was a size 6 with a HUGE round belly. I had an almost 9 pounder, so my belly was pretty huge. I had to wear maternity clothes, but I just got a few comfy, yet stylish shirts that I loved to go with my GAP pants.
chances are you will not gain too much more at the end.
good luck..........

I am at 22 weeks now and have just started wearing maternity clothes. I am very small and still haven't gained much weight. In fact, I just bought some bigger blue jeans instead of wearing maternity... But I started wearing maternity pants to work simply because they are so comfy. You will probably gain about 10-15 lbs more before you give birth, but that is just a guess. Sometimes I have to make myself eat, too, at this point. I think everyone is different, though. As long as you are getting the calories you need it isn't a problem.

At the beginning of my pregnancy I was exactly the same. When I started out I was underweight, because I'm 5'7 1/2 but only weighed 118 at the time and I was 2 months already. But as I came to the end of my second trimester I began to gain weight. I too wore my regular clothes because at the time I could still fit them. Now I am a week away from my ninth month and things are just too snug to the point it makes my stomach hurt so I had to break down and buy the maternity clothes, which I hate. But, the pain you have from wearing your clothes is simply unbearable after so long, and it's really not good for the baby. But if you can wear you clothes and it causes no problems, try to hold out, because those maternity clothes are not cheap.

Maternity clothes aren't that bad! I didn't necessarily always wear maternity clothes either... Some of my pants that were stretchy to begin with still fit thru most of my pregnancy too. But you will definitely need to get more comfortable clothing toward the end of your pregnancy. You never really can tell how much weight you'll gain until you gain it. I didn't start gaining weight until week 22 or so, but I still ended up gaining 30 lbs by the end of my pregnancy - and I didn't have a huge appetite either.

If you can, try to borrow some maternity clothing from any friends that have already had kids. That way you won't spend your money on clothes you'll wear for a short period of time, but you'll still be comfortable.

Hope this helps!

Lots of women don't wear maternity clothes. I'm 23 weeks along and since my clothes began to get too snug (gained 10 lbs so far), I tried to go out and buy Maternity clothes. Most of them were still way too big for me, and very unattractive, while the nicer ones were way too pricy. I'm tiny (5'1") and simply decided to buy pants with elastic waist bands for about $18 each. They're similar to sweat pants but with nicer fabric, since I have to wear them to work. I also went from a size SM to a M and I'm sure by the time I'm 8 months or so, a L or XL will the largest I can go. So yes, it's possible to not have to ever wear maternity clothes, depending on your body type and weight gain.

i am 38 weeks pregnant and to be honest with you i dont like maternity cloths either and i didnt start getting a belly that would affect my pants majorly until i was 6 months pregnant. i got something called a Maternity band. its just an elastic band that goes around your belly, YOU WEAR YOUR OWN PANTS =] its great you just un button and unzipper them and put this on. i loved it, but if i didnt want to wear that i took a hear tye and did a little loopy thing around the part where the button goes then hooked it to the button and then zippered my pants if i could. So for those snug ones if you want to do something like that where no one can notice a thing, then its a great idea and you can still wear your cloths.

but up until this day, i dont wear maternity cloths at all. & i rarely wear the maternity band unless i need it.

and about the weight. no, not at all.. i didnt get to much of a hunger strike either. but i just eat stuff just to eat. im sure things will be fine, if your doctor is seeing to much weight gain, they'll tell you.

check out Motherhood.com for the maternity band. they are pretty cheap. and hair tyes you can get ANYWHERE.

good luck

I myself have three pairs of maternity pants that I love because they don't look like maternity clothing. There are stores which sell underbelly maternity, which look just like regular pants, but fit under your belly instead of on it, these are great because there's no pressure on my belly when I'm pregnant, and I can wear almost any shirt I want. I have been searching all over for maternity clothes that don't look like maternity, I have found that old navy has some decent prices and some really adorable items!

You will get a lot bigger in the next 11 weeks... the last month is really uncomfortable.

If you can get away with wearing "normal" clothes throughout that's great. I couldn't... I'm normally a size small, but bought a bunch of size large shirts to get me through... in the last month and a half, I had to wear maternity.

There will be a period after the baby that maternity clothes are still useful... definately comfy clothes.

It's not only possible but it's probable that you'll gain the majority of your weight at the last few months. By months 7-9 you won't be able to avoid the maternity clothes unless you wear sweats all day every day.
