since the doctor's say to check if you feel the string inside the vagina by inserting your fingers am assuming that while you have sex your partner could also feel it

I've used that for five years and there may have only been a handful of times that my husband felt it. It was with deeper penetration and he said it felt like a poking. Nothing too uncomfortable, but he could tell it was there and wouldn't go as deep. If the strings are too long, your doctor can cut them a little shorter, but with my experience, they usually coil up a little bit due to sex or putting tampons in anyway.
