I had my tubes tied six years ago, after my seventh child. I last month (dec) had a spotty period, now this month nothing. my breast are not sore or tender, however I am having heartburn like crazy and headaches. I took a pregnancy test at the doctor's office and it was negative. I have a thyroid problem, but the dr. said that was good now. Any answers for me?

Yes, it is possible to be pregnant after getting your tubes tied and even cut. I know of someone personally who had her tubes tied, got pregnant, got them tied again and cut this time and got pregnant again.
However, if you took a pregnancy test and the results were negative and you have no signs of pregnancy, maybe what you are going through now is menapause or perimenapause. Give it a couple of weeks and if you still don't get your period, make an appointment with your obgyn. Good Luck!

I was going to have mine done but my doc said there is always a chance that you can still becom pregnant after a tubal. Most often they are ectopic but occassionally they are fine. It is the same kind of thing as a woman who only has one good tube and one good ovary and they are on opposite sides of the body they say the egg can migrate and cause a pregnancy. My mom always says that when someone has gone to such great lengths to keep from having a baby that God has his hand in there and it really is meant to be. I do agree with the others that get checked out because an ectopic pregnancy is nothing to mess with and can take a womans life. Hope all goes well for you.

Clamping tubes really isn't much. The only way to truly ensure they won't reheal and be in working order is if all of the ends are burned (cauterized) this forms a sort of scar tissue plug and heals over all ends so they can't grow back. If this wasn't done when you had your tubal you could get pregnant. I can't tell you what is causing the heartburn and headaches. They were never a symptom of pregnancy for me. It could be a gastrointestinal problem or ulcer. I'd be having the doctors check into everything if there were no answers yet.

It's absolutely possible. I believe that the success rate for tubal ligation (getting your 'tubes tied') is somewhere in the vicinity of 98%. I know of several people who've gotten pregnant after a tubal. My sister had it done after her second son was born. Four years later, and on birth control as well, she got pregnant with her daughter, now almost 2. It is extremely important for you to see you physician immediately if you may be pregnant though, because of an increased risk of an ectopic pregnancy.

My doctor told me when I had my tubes tied/clamped that over a few years it could come undone and I could get pregnant.
I had the option of burning the ends of the tubes after tieing so I did that. I already had 2 beautiful children and didnt want any more

Yes it is possible to get pregnant even with your tubes tied. If your other symptoms continue, seek medical help, I'm mainly concerned about the headaches.

Yes it can happen. I work in the OR as a surgical tech and have seen it happen many times. For the poster that said she had hers burned, it still can happen I've seen it. The ends can still fuse back together so having them burnt, tied, etc. will not 100% keep you from getting pregnant.

yes getting tubes tied is not 100%. The closest thing to 100% is an IUD or IUC. So talk to the doctor or buy a pregnancy test.

Yes it is possible, but if a blood test said no the chances are almost 0.

A tubal pregnancy would show up on a blood test.
