The first Holdens were made in/about 1948, the lineup consisting of a couple of small-ish sedans that were made to withstand the extreme and unique Australian adventures...
The line-up gradually expanded to include its own pickup truck(or as they call it Down Under, the "Ute"[as in utility vehicle])...the current Utes nowadays are mainly based on some Isuzu designs...
Also included are some "Transit"-type minivans(the designs are shared w/ GM's other divisions, Vauxhall[England] and Opel[Germany])...
Holdens were for a short time actually sold here in the USA, but NOT the current(and now discontinued) Pontiac GTO that was based on Holden's Monaro SS supercoupe;in the early 1950s, Holdens were sold through a Pontiac dealer in what was then the Hawaiian Territory;shortly after Hawaii became the 50th US state, GM told Holden to stop selling cars in the US...
As for the Holden "comeback", don't worry, the Pontiac connection will continue w/ the upcoming G5(formerly the Grand Prix);look for it in the summer of '08 at earliest!...
HTH...

1948.it was called the 48/215 holden.there is technicly no such thing as an fx holden, even though that's what the man on the street calls it.
fx,fj,fc,fe,fb,ek,ej,eh,hd,hr,hk,ht,hg,hq,hx,hz,wb.the wb was a ute only.then the commodore.vb,vc,vj,vk,vl,vn,vp,vr,vt,im not 100% sure after that or with the dunny doors at all.
PS.can anyone tell me why some of the answer only partly appears?if i hover over it it's all there?
