The average IQ is 100 (that's how the test is designed). If you know any statistics, the test is scaled so that the standard deviation is around 15, so that can help you figure out details. (Basically, 84% of people have IQ's < 115, 97.7% < 130, 99.9 < 145, etc.) Any serious IQ test will factor in your age, and supposedly your IQ is supposed to stay relatively constant over time.

IQ gets less accurate the farther away from the mean that you get. You are far enough away that the score is probably pretty inaccurate, especially considering that only around 1% of the population has an IQ in your range. I've taken two tests that say my IQ is 180, and this is off most scales that people use so it's questionable how accurate such a score is. I've also taken other IQ tests and gotten varied scores, one as low as 90, which makes me seriously question the validity of these tests.

The bottom line is--IQ doesn't really tell you all that much. Some people would say that an IQ of 140 would make you a genius--I disagree with that. I think that whether or not someone is a genius is very hard to gauge.

Bottom line--don't think about it too much. You're probably pretty smart, and you probably know that already, but intelligence can't be summed up in a number. Also, there are a TON of types of intelligence that IQ doesn't even begin to measure--such as musical intelligence, observational skill, ability at reading people, and of course understanding of ethical or spiritual questions. Try to focus on the things that really matter and not get bogged down by a number like IQ.

The average IQ score is 100. The basic scale goes like this: 85-115: Average 120: Intelligent 130: Very gifted (Mensa level) 140: Extremely gifted 155+: Genius And to everyone who's saying that they have an IQ of 135, or 130, or other rather high numbers, online IQ tests are NOT accurate; they just boost your IQ so you'll buy their "evaluation."

The average is 100 -- the test is scored to make 100 the average level.

140 is VERY high indeed.
