A large number of anime from decades ago to recent haven't been brought to the U.S. It's becomming even more so recently (around within the last year) that the number of anime being brought over has decreased. Although this mainly has to do with saturation of the anime market. A few years back when anime was really starting to kick off in sales, anime companies were jumping left and right to lisence new anime to distribute it in the U.S. and this lead to saturation of the U.S. market (basically so many anime titles available that consumers couldn't keep up, as well as many of the titles weren't that good by some standards which also decreased some sales) which is why currently they are only trying to pick up titles that have alot of potential and are popular in Japan and through fansubs. This of course has to do with the fact that it costs quite a bit to lisence an anime so companys now want to be safe and only pick up titles that they know will be successfull and sell and letting titles that are good slip away and not be brought over. Although in the end the reason why alot is not brought over simple has to do with the face that it costs alot of money to liscense anime and companys can't just go off and lisence all the anime as they become available in Japan so companys don't pay attention to titles they think will only appeal to a small market unless that certain market generally tends to sell alot.

Yep. Kinda sad really that because the people in control have a "holier than thou" complex about this country, some won't make it pass the FCC regulations that should be shown to children; and those that do make it pass are horribly edited that you miss possibly more than half the original story. And don't even get me started on the horrible dubs that have been made *cough*dragonball*cough*. Fortunately, there are fan-dubs and manga that HAVE been translated into English to save the fans.
