It took me about a year(Georgia). I had to pay my lawyer over a thousand dollars to even get my money. You'll probably end up doing the same. Good luck-you're gonna need it.

You have to be disable for six months when you can apply and be expected to be disable for one year or more.

It is almost automatic that you will be denied on the first request. Apply again claiming that you can not be employed for what other reason.

Once accepted you will receive all back benefits starting at the six month date. I applied on my own and didn't pay an attorney.

If you return to work SS will pay you for the next six months. Good luck!

That will depend not only on your circumstances but, also how
you contest any decision if you're turned down. If you stick to your guns and tell them you're not going anywhere until you get
what you are entilted to. It took me a few years so, if You've
just applied I'd get ready for a fight!

Been there, done that! :)

This is a bureaucracy you are dealing with. If you are lucky, a couple of months. If its a normal pattern, you are well advised to (politely) ride their a$$ or they will take their own sweet time.
