Don't be in too much of a hurry to move unless you know definitely you will get a promised job. Many states will not give an outsider a job before their own state people. Sometimes you have to do what you don't want to do to get what you want. I would suggest you stay in Calif. even if you have to take a job in the city, but keep checking around elsewhere.

I would personally move to Ohio. I currently live in SoCal as well, jobs aren't too hard to find here, but house prices are ridiculous. I feel I would have more time and money if I moved to a quieter town.

You're having trouble finding work, and you are considering moving to Ohio??? Start your research over. You have come into some seriously faulty information if you think there is work to be had in Ohio.

Nobody moves TO Ohio.

As a former Californian.. I say move. If there is opportunity in Ohio and lower living expense go for it. I have moved many times and always go for the opportunity and new adventure!
Good Luck!

If you have any obligations or sick family members, I suggest staying close to the mountain community, but if its extremely hard to find work, I would move to a place I might like.
