well if you do not love a person, if you do not care for him/her, you would not be bothered with anything he/she does...you wouldn't get hurt.
you feel pain because you care...so oftentimes, it's not the action itself...i.e. not getting a call from an acquaintance would not bother you...but a loved one forgetting to call you may put you down. same action, different persons, different reactions from you.

Because since you love them, you feel hurt when you beleive they dont have the same love for you in return.

because you love these people and their opinions and their words and actions affect you because you do love them.... its very sad, but you cant stop it...
