You don't need a big named attorney to get out of this. I had a sibling die in an accident and the other driver was at fault. The other driver actually ran a stop sign. The other driver received probation, no jail time or fine, despite a previous driving record containing multiple D.U.I's and similiar traffic violations. She will probably not receive jail time or a fine either. The family is asking for a huge sum of money. I am guessing they are expecting her to settle out of court. Even if she settles out of court for half of what they were origionally asking for, you can see they will still receive 25 million. It sounds like the family might be taking advantage of her wealth. It is a bad situation all around. If they want justice, by all means...seek it. It is a shame they are using this to get rich. Money doesn't equal justice. Having a person put in jail or receive the maximum punishment would be justice.
As for her not personally apologizing to the family, this is probably at the advice of attorneys. The family shouldn't have to face her right now. They deserve their right to mourn. Obviously, any interaction between the family and her could have a huge effect on the court case for both sides, depending on what happens.

It's sad for the fact that the person Brandy hit died but again why 50 million dollars? If one of my loved ones died due to an accident, not intentional, i wouldn't be suing that person for anything, famous or not. Even if it was pre-meditated. It's not gonna bring that person back, I'm sure the deceased person's family is not rich and God forbid, they win that money in court, i would feel really guitly spending or enjoying that money..is it just me or doesn't that seem sick to you? What will the money do? Enrich her family or bring some good to her community? They were really quick to sue her for money.

If it was a "non-celebrity" that was the cause of that accident, do you think that person would be out of jail right now? Race, money, stardom, connections, etc. shouldn't be a factor in an arrest. If you did something wrong and was stupid enough to get caught, you should pay. If it's a first time offense then you need to have the sh!t scared out of you to where you won't do it again. Sometimes good kids do get caught up. If she was under the influence of anything, the person who was kill deserves justice.

Is that all? Goes to show that people like Brandy shouldn't be out there driving. I understand it was an accident, but at the same time she had to be going pretty fast for that poor lady to get shoved out into the center line. Everyone of us has to drive everyday and we all abide and pay attention. The celebrities do not have their own set of rules; they have to follow them just like everyone else. If she has to serve time, so be it...next time she'll be more careful...although at this point I don't think she should be allowed to have a driver's license.

AGREE.
Looks like someone was talking on her cellphone while Tailgaiting someone... ran into the back of someone b/c she couldnt stop fast enough... and boo hoo hoo.. gets her PUBLICIST to apologize to the family instead of making it personal.. i mean she had something to do with the DEATH of that woman.. and she gets someone else to apologize..
I hope she doesnt get jail just b/c she has a kid.. but she needs to be held accountable for WHATEVER happened on the road that day.. hopefully some accountable witnesses shows up and tells the truth.
Sounds to me like she was tailgating though.

Ummm that is WAYYY off track I watched it on the news the day it happened! It had an acctual tape, she was SPEEDING and the woman who was killed was driving drunk, also Brandy claims that she could blame the accident on the slippery rodes. I dont see what is predjuice about that but whatever. You need to get better resources, because your WRONG.

How is she being prejudice. She was just explaining that she didn't do anything wrong. I feel sorry for the woman who got killed in the car accident that Brandy was in. But in my opinion everybody makes some mistakes, so who are you to judge somebody?

I don't know if she was the one who caused the accident. There were more cars involved. Maybe the family notice a chance to get rich.

You mean the manslaughterer Brandy?
She's thousands of pegs above that alleged murderer OJ Simpson. At least she admitted her wrong doing.
