who else is tired of this?

i'm tired of everyone calling rock noise. it's not noise. it takes a crap load of practice and talent to play metal and rock. rap just takes a person who can write some words and not even sing. all my friends can rap. but only a few can play rock. i'm tired of rock and metal being called noise. who agrees with me?

I completely agree.

IMO, there is no point at which ANY form of music can qualify as noise. There are a few genres that I don't like, but most certainly, I can appreciate the art and technical skills that go into making the music.

Noise is sound without pattern...All forms of music have pattern, and therefore don't qualify.

I can't rap. I can't play the guitar. I can't sing (except in the car!). I have nothing but respect for those who can, and I appreciate that they provide me with so much entertainment!

I agree with you. I dont understand how rap has become 'cool'. I guess the 70's and 80's was for rock and the times we are living in now is for rap and RnB. I absoulutley hate rap. Name me rap songs that can compare to the songs like Led Zepplin, ACDC, Pink floyd, Red hot chili peppers, Guns and roses, areosmith etc. They have no talent whatsoever. Lets talk over a beat. Wow. They are bad boys wannabe. Look at me, i'm a gangsta. Yea i do drugs and i'm also a pimp. Idiots. No respect for women either. Man I hate them. Rappers are not even hot. They are ugly. I havent even seen one that was hot. Whats with the designer clothes and the bling bling? Show offs. I would take a long hair, muscular man who has talent anyday.

It just depends on your style. I don't think rocks just noise but it does take talent to rap as fast and as well and sound as good as some of those rappers out there. I think that as long as someone likes it it's music. Just like art... someone can call it a squiggle but someone else can call it art. They're just opinions and they can't change other peoples minds. Well I hope you find what you want here.

It takes a lot of talent to rap, people think it doesn't cus of people like young joc who cant rap but get mainstream success, nowadays good beats and new dances are valued by the radio and tv more than lyrical talent, IMO people can like whatever music they want and its all good, people who listen to rap have to hear all those rock fans who say rap is crap so u guys shouldn't complain as much, i live where everyone mostly listens to rock and hate on rap, a lot of people hate on hip hop just because it was started by black people and the genre is still dominated by african americans , those people just happened to be mainly people that listen to rock. i personally dont like rock but thats mainly cus i dont bother listening too it,

Rock is not noise to me. I like rock but depise rap music. I think rock wakes you up, gets you moving and going. People say they can not understand rock because they can not understand what they are singing but if you listen good you can. Me, I can not understand what they are saying in rap music myself, to me that is noise.

i agree although i have yet to hear someone say its "noise" ..maybe in the sixties but..im pretty sure metal and rock are highly respected hence the rock n roll hall of fame

Amen. i've been saying that for YEARS! rap takes no talent. half of them can't even spell. i think they're lazy. rock is hard and takes a lot of talent, true talent.
