this is a good but really depends what that person will use the laptop for... for sheer power and speed I would have to say alienware m9750 is the most powerful machine on the market but it dont get released till march or at least that is what the alienware rep told me. m9750 supports the new core 2 duo processor and has two 7950 gpu's in sli. 17" wuxga 1920 x 1200 display up to 2GB 667MHz RAM and two 7,200rpm hard drives in raid 0 with up to 400GB capacity also supports tv tuner and blueray disc. They say that this system will be priced around $2,000 dollars! but no word has been released.
