"EROS was the mischievous young god of love. He was depicted as a child (variously as an infant, a boy, or a young teenager) armed with either bow and arrows or a flaming torch. At other times he was shown bearing a lover's gifts - most commonly a hare (his sacred animal).
Eros was sometimes regarded as the foremost of a troop of winged love-gods, known as the Erotes.
The young, mischievous Eros was usually distinguished from the elder Eros (or Phanes), an ancient being who emerged at the beginning of time as the force driving early procreation and the creation of the universe.

He is the bastard child of Chaos and Aphrodite and was granted eternal youth for all time . His good looks and youthful appearance guaranteed him that for all time women would find him irresistible and desire to mate with him .
Thats just one myth among many of the Gods worshiped many moons ago .
Without fantastic stories what would our conversations be about . Eventually you tire of the same woman day in and day out in in 3 years you are down to once a week and in no time once every other week and finally a month goes by then two then its on special occasions .
Stories like these of Gods of love are used to keep things hot and romantic for 50 years or more due to the long lives we now live . Who ever knew till death do you part was for so long .
They make you commit to this crap when you are young and time means nothing . Well when you can look back over ten years and go hey I am not doing another ten like this and you realize nothing is going to change its time to move on . But first try the creek Gods of love as inspiration , Romeo and Juliet , Antony and Cleopatra .

Eros is young because he is the god related to Love, lust and sex, and as such is percieved to be young as these are characteristics most often displayed in youth. He was occassionally shown as a baby boy (Although this is more synonymous with cupid from Roman mythology) however more often portrayed as a teenage male.
As sex and lust usually end up in reporduction it makes sense that this may be another reason for Eros' perpetual youthfulness, a way of representing the continuing on of genetic matter, and humankinds physical immortality, our offspring.

Actually, Eros appears twice in Greek mythology. First, he is put back at the creation of the universe as the god of love. It was his influence that got Uranus and Gaia together to create the world. In later myths, however, he is a son of Aphrodite, goddess of love. Since he is one of the last gods born, he is often depicted youthful in this incarnation.

Well hes Aphrodite's son, I think, and the biggest thing I know about him is that he shot the god Apollo, twin of Artemis the moongoddess, through the heart with one of his love arrows and then shot the tree-nymph Daphne (im not sure if thats her name or not) with a love-repelling arrow and forever cursed Apollo to love someone who didnt love back, he did this because Apollo was acting arrogant and prideful towards Eros because of his recent victory over the Python Oh and his Roman name is Cupid

You must be young yourself. If you wait 50 years, you'll know the answer without having to ask.
