Matthias? It only got like 2 stars on babynames.com. My husband's last name is an awkward german name that starts with F so I've given up on a whole name that flows. So I just want to find a first & middle name that sounds great.

I suggest you look for a name that means something to you.If the first name ends with a consonant then the middle name should start with a vowel for balance.
If you don't want people to assume your baby is German, then give him an American name and leave the German last name to suggest his heritage.Matthias is a solid name. I like it personally.
Usually when families have different heritages and possibilities of living outside de US they should consider giving the baby an "international" name, meaning it will be easy to pronounce in any country.

I really like it! and it will sound nice with a german last name, plus having a unique first name is always good, makes him...mysteriouos!

Try to find a middle name, otherwise his initials are MF...
I know a kid name Mat, people called him "doormat" for the fun of it. "mathematics"...

if your last name is a common name, give an uncommon first name.
if your last name is uncommon, hard to pronounce, or unusual, give a common first name.

my lil bro is jake mathias so i like it. he was named that because it was our great grandfathers name. yes it is an older name but still cute
