I know it's a bit specific... but someone on the internet must know!
I need a hotel in Athens, Greece either in or near the Plaka...
Around $200 us a night (less would be better!)
and we need to be allowed 5 people in a room, connecting double and triple rooms would be ok too but it would still have to be in the price range for both rooms total.
An apartment would be ok too, and if you know of a really good hotel a little over $200 a night tell me!!

I disagree with the word very dangerous (well i don't feel safe either) that leonarda used but
i agree that you shouldn't stay in any hotels near omonia or karaiskaki or platia bathis sqaures. Many tourists don't know and find them selfs in Athens "bad" areas. Prefer hotels in the areas from plaka with direction to the parliament and beyond and from omonia (not near) to the parliament and beyond. Look a map

Any of the best hotels in Athens (Hilton, Grande Bretange, Intercontinental) will cost a lot more than $200 per night for the kind of rooms you want. You had best lower your sights and accept the suggestions of the prior answerers, for places that aren't wonderful but are convenient, safe, clean and affordable.

There are a great number of fairly good hotels around Syntagma Sq. Depending on your timing and if you are a bit adventurous, I am sure you can get a good room by just walking in and bargaining.
