I am in my junior year and I have a 3.73 weighted GPA and an 1830 SAT. Do I have a chance during the admissions process? Another scenario: I'm taking the SAT again in May and I am working for a 2100+ this time. I'm pretty sure by the end of 2nd semester, my overall weighted GPA should be about a 3.8-3.9. Will these improvements get me into UCSD? Thanks :)

Unless you're an underrepresented minority, your current numbers don't look good enough. The possibly new ones do.

Of course, like the others mentioned, I hope you've got some extra currics too.

I agree with everyone else you shouldn't have any problem getting into UCSD. I don't know if there's something very specific or attractive about UCSD but if I were you I would even apply at Stanford or Berkely. Granted, you don't have the highest possible GPA but you have great test scores and a high GPA. If you can couple that with some extra curriculars and a well written essay you never know. USC and UCLA are also great schools that I think you should consider with those grades. But it's your college experience.Good luck wherever you choose to attend.

Colleges admissions involves so much more than grades and scores. How are your extracurricular activities? Your essay? Are you involved with community service? What are you planning on studying? Is it a highly competitive major at UCSD? What makes you stand out from the 10,000's of other students with 4.0's and 1800 SAT's?

Numbers are a small, small part of the process. Just ask my High School's #2 who didn't make it into any of the UC's. Great grades, great SAT's. Zero extracurricular activities.
