Many guitars come with just the tail piece strap pin and you have to figure out where to put the neck strap pin. This takes a bit of figuring as to where the balance point is so the guitar will tend to fall towards your chest and is usually placed on the bottom side of the neck near the body of the guitar. I use a 6 penny finish nail and drill to make a pilot hole where I want the neck strap pin attatched. For strap locks you just replace the two strap pins with the new strap lock pins. That's about it. Any good guitar shop and many music stores can do this for you, it only takes a couple of minutes and if you buy the strap locks from them they might install them for free. I don't recommend tying a strap to the head stock, it tends to put stress on the neck.

You take the little plastic gizmo off of a bread sack or potato sack and snap it around your strap button.

That 's the kind of plastic straplocks I use.

You mean the thing that holds the strap on (yeah, I'm good.)
Unscrew it.
Keep the screws.
Screw the plastic ones on.
