Oh my god thats what i think of too! I saw the question and i was like "Oh, The Raven" so i clicked it and POW! there it is.

I also LOVE his poem, LENORE.

"Ah, broken is the golden bowl, the spirit flown forever
Let the bell toll, a saintly soul floats on the Stygan river..."

A Cup of Kindness

It is my life that lays down love
A crushed, compacted morning dove,
A tug of war with peace the prize,
A pretty poem filled with lies.

He spills the cracks and orange peels
That straddle saddles, bone to wheel,
Fraught with regret and sad reminders
Remembing our horse has blinders.

Settings that will loosen gems
His thoughts that balance on the limbs
And memories bereft of songs that ring
Like an old cliché that liars sing.

Reminders of a cannibal’s remains,
Cirrus clouds and then the dark sky rains,
Rousing reverie each time the thunder rolls,
Once picked, free falling fright unfolds.

Pride parachutes while those below look up,
But I shall warm my kindness in a cup.

Song of the Open Road, by Walt Whitman. After that I just think of the collection of work put forth by Edna St. Vincent Millay.

I have two all time favorites: The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Bannock Burn by Robert (Robbie) Burns.
