I'm looking for one that allows a lot of soloing.

I'd suggest World of Warcraft. It is very possible to level up to 60 by soloing (the only time groups are really needed are in instances (in-game dungeons that are more for a group of 5 people) and the occasional difficult elite quest).
some classes are obviously a bit more difficult to solo with while levelling - i wouldn't attempt solo leveling a holy priest (i'm sure its possible, but i wouldn't do it!). Each class has at least one branch that is geared more toward soloing/leveling (ex: priests have shadow spec).
All in all, the game is highly enjoyable, the quests offer enough variety to keep it fun, graphics are great, and it is indeed open to both solo and grouped efforts.
If you want, they offer a free 10-day trial through the Web site - https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com/trial/index.htm - you don't get to try out all the features (i don't think the mail system or auction house will work for you - but you'd get a good idea of the playstyle, etc.). Happy gaming!

My personal favorite is EVE-online. This is a very diverse game that allows you to make a character that can do anything within the game. It is highly solo-able, and the possibilities for character development are incredibly diverse, no two chars in this game will have the same setup. it is a truly magnificent game both in game play and visuals. swat 4 is a must but it isnt mmorpg lol
also you could go with ffXII but the fighting isnt too great until ur high level.
i would say WOW is ur best bet on a good comp

omg i have the best game,,,,,,,runescape.com it is awsome and its free.....like world of warcraft is $15 a month!!!!!!!!!!!
