Why is it that the guys on Sportscenter called baseball the FORMER pastime? What did I miss?

Baseball is losing popularity to football mostly. Football is becoming more popular. I prefer football. I always have.

Because most of the fools and idiots on Sportscenter don't have a clue.

With a record setting 2006 attendence of 75,470,941 people, how can the suggestion of baseball being anything but THE sport be suggested.....again, Fools and Idiots!

I actually read and article a few years back that said NASCAR was actually on the verge of passing baseball as america's pastime.

people used to play baseball all the time, even in the streets....

now most kids don't even stay with little league and usually switch to gay sports like lacrosse or track...

football's popularity and new rookies like Reggie Bush and Vince Young have brought more and more fans away from baseball

steroids have also become a traditionalist turn-off

Because now football is the current pastime.
But I don't watch football. Baseball is still the best sport for me to watch

The popularity of other sports such as basketball, football, hockey and extreme sports such as skateboarding, snowboarding, etc. have made baseball popularity decline in recent years due to there being more options as to sports to watch on TV.
