some places sell a dollar spring water [esp. right outside on the sidewalk]
one long stem flower, some types go for a buck
a candy bar [in the discount stores]
china town has hair accessories for $1.oo ea.
a small bag of chips at Grand central station [& other locations]
The dollar stores
at fast food places now the [dollar menu] has gone up to $1.19-$1.29 on most items. but some are still a buck
