He is great no matter what he does or who is with, Yard Birds, Cream, solo....he's awsome. I love Crossroads and White Room from Cream and as a solo artist I have always likedLay Down Sally and After Midnight

How about Eric Clapton with Derek and the Dominoes, accompanied by Duane Allman on Layla - is there better guitar work than those two on that song?

well, when he was in cream, all he had to do was play guitar, he hardly sung (thank god) and he let jack and ginger (the true talent in the band) carry the bulk of the workload.
his solo work is pretty much crap. crappy cover after crappy cover with lame, generic guitar riffs. tears in heaven was the only good song he ever wrote on his own. all of his real success in music has come with the assistance of other great musicians. stevie winwood in blind faith, duane allman in derick and the dominoes.
all by himself, he's a glorified cover artist with the same tired riffs. yea yea yea, we get it eric..........you love robert johnson. you did "crossroads" with cream, you did 2 other robert songs on unplugged. spare us. you don't need to put out a whole album. if i want to listen to robert, i'll listen to him, not some crap white guy from england, who really can't sing. thanks anyway eric.

i'm stuck on that one...cuz my favorite song by him is "layla" cuz that's my name....but i think the cream version rocks a lot more, but acoustic version, when he was solo, has a kick *** piano solo.
