If you haven't seen a doctor yet go to the ER. If you have seen a doctor call his/her office ASAP.

Not necessarily. Many women experience some spotting during their pregnancy and everything is fine. Spotting is especially common if you have recently had sex (which is the first question the doc will always ask you when you call). I don't suggest immediately running out to the ER. It will cost you a lot of money, and quite frankly at 5 weeks they can't stop a miscarriage. Stay off your feet, don't do anything physical for tonight. Call your doctor in the morning and let them know how much spotting there is/was and they will direct you from there on what to do. At 5 weeks if you do miscarry, you will probably not need a D&C, your body would naturally eliminate.

Since you're so early, it's probably time for your period to start... or time for it to have started before you got pregnant. Sometimes it takes your body a month or two to really realize that its pregnant. Strange, but true.

The general rule is that if you start to soak a pad in an hour, go to the ER. That is a miscarriage. Light spotting isn't. And that spotting should go away in about a day.

You're so early that even if you do start to miscarry, the docs can't stop it. Your body will naturally know if there is something wrong with the pregnancy and will take care of that for you.

The same thing happened to me at around 5 weeks, and in 4 more weeks we're expecting a healthy baby. You'll be just fine.

Maybe or maybe not. Call you ob/gyn but s/he will likely tell you to come in tomorrow morning. Even if you go to the ER, they won't be able to do anything to really stop a miscarriage from happening. They will probably give you an u/s, but you may be waiting for a long time.

It could simply be implantation bleeding or maybe you just had sex? Your cervix is very sensitive right now and sex can cause bleeding sometimes. But any time you bleed when you are pregnant, you NEED to call your doctor or get to the ER. Generally if you are not having pain then you are not miscarrying, but its better to be safe than sorry. Good luck hun

No, probably not. A small amount of spotting can be normal that early. If you start to see clots or dark red/brown spots contact your doctor immediately.

that does NOT mean that you are loosing the baby although you should REALLY go to the ER to get checked out. It could be normal because there ARE normal spotting like myself had that the Dr. told me was fine.

I would definetly go get checked asap. Most likely you are fine, a little spotting in the first months is normal, but you never know.
