some people think we were friends in 1988 at the time of the shooting down of the iranian air liner and pan am bombing, but do you think it may go back to 1978 when we lost our oil wells there

Before learning that Iran is not an easy victim to prey and they would resist you when you will go for invasion as they don't have Saddam like leader with them who would let you in by sacrifising their own peoples, And when you realised that, Iran would not let you occupy whole middle east that easily, you turnd agaist it and now iran is you worse enemy..........See your country has this sort of standard for decearing someone as friend or enemy !! whoever resist and try to save their sovereingty is your enemy !!!

We were never "friends" with Iran. We helped the British install the Shaw back in the forties for one reason only, to get to their oil. During the Iraq/Iran war we were giving Saddam weapons and intelligence to fight Iran. We have no "friends" amongst the Arab nations. It's a mutual money making relationship, that's what we have.

When the Shah was in power we were mates .....but after the revolution it all went Pear Shaped and fanatical.
Too bad 'cos the Iranians are a nice, intelligent people, as a rule.

With the Governments currently installed in UK and USA, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we are giving them arms now

Shah....but the underlying Islamic reality made that a farse...like with Saudi Arabia...we are "allies" yet their entire populus hates us and finanaces out demise.
