Open IE, maximize the window , then close it. It should reopen full screen after that.

This solution can be used with almost any kind of windows: there ar e two ways, but it's the same method; it just seems one works better than the other in different situations. The best 'way' if it works is this: After you open the window, maximize it, then, holding down the Ctrl key (lower left corner of keyboard) the entire time, go to File->Close (or Exit) --still holding Ctrl until it's closed. (In IE7 or other newer Microsoft applications sometimes the menu bar will not show by Default (File, Edit, etc.); to make it show RIGHT-click somewhere (try different places) on the upper toolbars and select Show Classic Menus or Menu Bar, etc.). Now when you open it, it should open maximized. If this did not work, then when you open it, instead of maximizing it, just drag and expand (by positioning the mouse cursor over the edge (corner) of the window and dragging it until it fills the entire screen) and then, holding down Ctrl the entire time, go to File->Close (or Exit)

Or download Actual Title Buttons or Actual Windows Manager for complete, elegant, powerful, and customizable control over almost all windows.

Have you tried maximizing it and seeing if it will hold?
