In the NFL, as long as an opposing player does not touch you, or you do not run out of the field of regulation, you are allowed to stand up and continue running

In the NCAA you would be down; in the NFL you would not be down if you got back up before being touched by the opposing team and no part of your body touched the out-of-bounds sideline when you fell.

in high school, no. In college football you can get up and run. Until another player on other team tackles and touches you.

in the pros, if you trip yourself while running with the ball you can get up and keep going. if an opponent trips you, you are down. In college and high school any time you come in contact with the ground, you are down and can not continue to run regardless of what causes you to go down.
