My best friend lives in Seattle and is a Mariners fan. I'd like to see them win the west but I doubt they'll come close enough to sniff the title. I think Oakland will win it with Anaheim coming in second. I just hope you guys end up above the Rangers.

Well, there seems to be some hope, according to today's Seattle Post-Intelligencer, but not for taking the division. That's still a toss-up between the Angels and A's.
The Mariners did not get any of the pitching they needed, because such as was available was overpriced from the very beginning. Apparently everybody had money in their pockets due to the sale of the Nationals. The opening offers for Daisuke were so insane that the Mariners didn't even bother bidding. And when they opened up the budget for Barry Zito, the Giants offered him some $30 million more and an extra year. We were lucky to get second-stringers and retreads. Weaver is a big question mark. He might recover his old form, in which case the Mariners will win a few more games, or he will revert to recent performance, in which case the M's will sink lower than that proposed tunnel in Seattle that the state legislature won't fund.
I'm not as worried about the hitting as others are, but the new acquisitions are nothing to write home about. Maybe we shored up the DH.
So I say the Mariners go 81-81, third in the division (with the Rangers last), and Ichiro departs via free agency at the end of the year.

I am a Mariners fan, but unfortunatley I do not believe they will win the division with the current roster. They will most likely finish second at best, behind the Angels. Rangers may also be ahead of the M's. I expect the M's to go around .500 for the year, but if Felix matures, Sexson/Beltre have a breakout year and Jose Lopez produces like last year, and Raul keeps playing like he has they could be there at the end, or in contention 88 wins (20 by Felix) 74 losses (20 by Felix lol) he is inconsistent

Well, your rotation goes like this...
1. Washburn who will improve over his 8 wins last year
2. Weaver who who 11 games and thats about all you
can expect from him
3. Felix Hernandez at 21 this season will continue to improve
and will probably win 15-16 games for you
4. Miguel Batista who I think was a pretty good pickup for you
and will win 12 games this year
5. Baek the Korean who looked good in a short amount of time
will be the 5th man and might win 10 gamesbut he wouldn't
surprise me if he won 15 he looked that good.
J.J. Putz is a top 3 closer in the game and will show why again. Any division hopes rest on him
your IF is pretty decent with Beltre and Sexson at the corners and I love the pickup of Vidro and he should come back with a pretty good year IF he can stay healthy...your catcher had a good year and is a top 5 in baseball at that position
in the OF you can never go wrong with Ichiro and Raul Ibanez is a great hitter that everybody seems to forget (90 rbi and 25 homers avg. the past 5 years) but the signing of Jose Guillen was questionable to me...
NOW the bad news... I think the Angels will win the division this year with 95 wins as their pitching staff improves greatly on last year but if anybody falters or gets hurt on the Angels, it will be up for grabs to your Mariners because Oakland and Texas wil trail the pack...I figure the Mariners to win 87 games and possibly as many as 92 depending on how good your middle relief is...

I would like to predict 72-90, 3rd in the AL West. They have done exactly what a sub-.500 team should NOT do in the following offseason: NOTHING. Adding Weaver will not be a significant factor, they need that left handed slugger you mentioned (although with Ichiro already on the team, that would just convince opponents to throw lefties at them) as well as bullpen help.

Considering they are in a tough division with the A's, Rangers, and Angels, it is hard to say. Every team looks fairly even this year especially since the Rangers have beefed up their pitching and have a solid infield. The Angels and A's will continue to be competitive as well.
Just pray that Ichiro, Sexson, and Beltre come through for you with the bat.

I don't think they will win the division. The Angels I think will win the A.L. West. They will likely be in last place with a record of 77-85.

They will finish last in the AL west. They stink and Weaver is a bum. He got creamed when he played for the Angels so i don't see the results being much different.

No, i think of Texas and Oakland purely could runaway with this race this 365 days. there is not any risk for all people interior the AL West to win the Wild Card so all of it hangs on the branch win and there are talks of Harden coming decrease back before the top of the extensive-unfold season, there is became into additionally the addition of the rookie Windsor to the A's rotation and Zito is unlikely everywhere before the commerce time decrease. And pitching wins, purely seem on the Astro's final 365 days with there horrindous offense, yet All superstar pitching team

0% chance, 73-89, last in division. (Can't get any simplier.) Anahiem, Texas, Oakland, Mariners in that order. (From a Phillies fan.)
