4 * 3 = 12
12 - 5 =7

The absolute value is the distance from 0. So -5 is 5 away from 0. +5 is also 5 away from 0. They have the same absolute value.

Now.

find the absolute value of each of the terms.

Multiply the first two together. (4 * 3 = 12)

Subtract the last one from that product. (12 - 5)

And you have the answer

4*3-5...=7...

You take the negatives off, because AV is it's distance from 0 on a number line, since the minus isn't inside them, it doesn't get taken off.

7. Well, you treat each number by how far away from 0 it is. l-4l is just 4 and l3l is 3. then you treat it like the normal problem. 4X3-5.
