This is 2 twenty year old college students who have clean records and have never even acted like they could be this stupid. They seem shocked that it is such a big deal and they have given the goods back.

If it is their first offense I doubt they will go to prison. More likely Probation and some community service. But they could end up with a felony conviction

Depends on where they live and what the laws are. Also depends on if their employer is feeling overly generous.

If they worked for me, I'd throw the book at them. How could anyone be so stupid as to think stealing $12,000 in gift cards is acceptable? Good God - our kids are getting dumber and dumber.

They deserve to go to jail and learn from this! and the fact that they show no remorse should make the time even longer and its disturbing because it also suggest they will do it or something worse again.
