Though it's entertaining to see animals jump through hoops and ride bicycles around a ring, ultimately it's not natural or fair that these animals are made and trained to do this for our pleasure. There are so many accounts of abuse and neglect of these wonderful animals in circus life that it is sad they still are around. Cirque De Soleil is the way to go, at least the performers have a choice to say 'yes' or 'no' and how they are treated!

I was never a fan of the wild animal acts in the circus, ie. lions, tigers, bears, panthers, elephants etc. I don't mind the dog acts though. Wild animals should be left in the wild, not cooped up in cages and being made to do unnatural things. I agree, Cirque De Soleil is an awesome circus and their non-use of animals should be commended.

They're taught their tricks through abuse/fear tactics. Sure, they may be given a treat if they do something right, but is that really the way you think they train a tiger?? No, they use whips.
And living conditions, small cramped quarters... never being allowed to do what they want... always traveling...
I wouldn't want to live like that.
That's why I don't support circuses.

It depends on your point of view. If you love animals, I would definitely say that they are treated unfairly. They could be whipped and what animal wants to be jumping through hoops for someone? If you don't care about animals, then I guess it wouldn't bother you. I hope this helps.

I agree. I don't think animals should be paraded around thus. However, as to whether or not they are mistreated, i think it depends on the circus.

I do not think circuses are humane. I feel very sorry for elephants in particular.
