Tarot cards can tell you surprising things, but be wary of the readers. In my experience anything more than $30 for a reading is excessive. If they see a "horrible curse" that can be lifted if you pay them lots of money, run out the door, they are scam artists. The best tarot readers won't care what the question you ask the cards is until the last card has been read the first time through. Sometimes the question you ask is not the one answered, but one you needed to know about anyways.

Palm readings are easier to fake, but there are genuine readers out there. Unlike tarot, a palm reading will just tell you what is going in your life and your personality traits. The best prefer to read both hands starting with the non-dominant hand. Same as the tarot cards though, if there is a "curse" that needs to be lifted, be warned they are trying to scam the heck out of you.

I'd say save your money and buy a Tarot deck and an interpretation book yourself. And no, you don't have to be psychic to read cards, it's actually pretty simple. You can buy them either online, at a spirituality store (usually under "occult" in the Yellow pages), or at a chain bookstore like Barns & Noble.

The reason is that most of these people will take your money and then tell you whatever they want to tell you. They don't have to tell you the actual interpretation of the cards, or lay the cards out in an actual format. But if you're just going for a laugh, there's no harm in that either, and if you're lucky you might actually get a Tarot reader who's not a scam artist.

Good luck!

despite the naysayers and those who know nothing about it, it really depends on who does the reading.

There are charlatans, and there are those who are gifted. You can find both sorts.

It's like anything else. If you do your search with your mind already made up, well, that's called contempt without prior investigation. Investigation isn't reading a Chick bible tract, or a minister who already has his or her mind made up. If you wish to entertain these sorts only, you'll have nothing but opinion.

There is also the work of the American Psychical Society, who investigates the paranormal in a scientific fashion. The United States Government found enough cause to investigate psychic abilities for military purposes. It's not used, not because there is a complete lack of evidence, but because it's nature is not entirely predictable. The evidence showed that many people were able to, for example, remotely view, with accuracy far beyond what chance would predict, but because it is not 100% accurate, it could not be depended on in a military situation.

Such is the case with modern psychics. Their skill may be far beyond what could be accounted for by chance, but they aren't 100% accurate. Then there are those who read, rather than the cards, the people asking for a reading.

So, while you can find those whose only purpose is to separate you from your money, you can also find those who are quite skilled. Shop around.

As a psychic and experienced Tarot card advisor, I have been using the Tarot as a tool to help others for over 14 years.
There is nothing evil, demonic or negative about the Tarot cards themselves. The person who uses them may occasionally have sinister motives, though.
As far as experiences go, I have had several people come back to me telling me that my advice was "right on" and helpful.
For a humorous experience, I once did a reading for a woman and I told her I kept seeing a red truck. She kept telling me that she didn't have a red truck. I persisted and told her just to keep an eye out for one. Two weeks later, she came back to me. The week after my reading, her husband brought home her birthday present: a brand new, red truck.
So...if you want a good laugh, go ahead and go to one of these dime-store gypsy wanna-bes and let them try to freak you out or tell you the obvious stuff.
If you want a serious reading, then go in with a serious attitude and tell the reader that you're not in this for fun.

It will reveal if you believe it will reveal. Honestly that is the best answer one can give you. If you do not believe it in, then it will not work foryou, however if you believe in it, then it will. This is due to the idea of the butterfly affect, all things affect another. It is important though you keep true to your beliefs during it.

You can also try on your own, tarot decks, tea readings, even circular ceremonies to call upon prosperity etc, if you believe is such as well.

If you are interested in this field, speak to a vender of the craft, one who sells spells, oils etc, they usually know alot, and can help you out. They may also beable to guide you in the right direction.

But I would try it. Taror cards are alot of fun, and the whole experience is really cool. plus having someone who really knows what they're doing do it, is also great. Have fun with it, it never hurts =]. But do becareful, the cards are very powerful.

As a reader of Tarot, I assure you it can work. But people who sell their services cannot always be trusted. I once had my future read by a psychic on the street in Chicago and she used my class ring to determine how long a relationship would last. Needless to say, it was wrong, and she was probably a fraud.

Not to say where you are going will be a fake-out, but take it with a grain of salt, and an open mind. The future is a fluid entity, it always changes based on your actions.

Wow, so many hostile answers....

Just go for a laugh, have a good time, and don't let them talk you into buying anything....

Most times, when you run into someone who is doing a "psychic place" (I assume you mean a fortune teller), then it's just a fun bit of entertainment fluff, sometimes you get the ones who will try to scam you for more money...but it's usually just harmless fun.

Tarot can be a very useful spiritual tool, a way of peeking around in your subconcious, in a bit easier to deal with way...there usually will be some flashes of insight and intuition, but most of the time it's just taking advantage of all that unused computing power of the mind, just another way of letting the subconcious talk....

Then there will be the unexplained things that can happen, and that is where the real mystery will be located...

You should read a little more about Tarot before you characterize it as real or "not real". MOST of the interpretations of the cards is what gets people to believe. If you want to know if you will hit the lottery, there is no "You will hit the lottery" card in the Tarot deck. Someone flips over the 7 of Wands and says "Ah, good fortune is in your future!" Bah. Save your money and buy chocolate. I guarantee it will make you feel better than the stupid cards. Actually, the meaning of the Seven card is "To Take a Stand", as in "Tarot is bunk".

Nothing in the Occult world can affect you if you don't believe. This goes for the Tarot as well. It only takes a little bit of you to start to believe, and then you just might see what's in store for your future.

Palm reading...? I never got the hang of that. Doesn't everybody's palm look the same with all the creases, anyway?

Tarot Cards I do my own and yes within 6 months of the reading everything happens that is in the cards.

Give it a go or you will never know : )
