I just moved in with a freind. He is currently out of town for buisness. I was trying to connect to his wireless network. I found his account. As i went to connect to enter the WEP passcode, a error message popped up saying that there was no signal. It was clear to me that the signal looked good. To make sure it wasn't my laptop, i attempted to connect to another account, which it immediately asked for the WEP. I don't know what the problem is.. wonder if anyone knows about something like that. HELP! LOL

It is possible that your friend has blocked access to all machines except ones he approved. If you have access to the router config, see if MAC filtering is enabled.

For a dlink, it is on the advanced tab under filters

Are you in an apartment? Even if you're in a house, chances are there are many wireless networks in range of you. Make sure you're attempting to connect to the right one before proceeding.

you may have to reset the modem. try unplugging the router and the modem, wait 2 minutes, then replug them in. that always works for me. good luck, i know how frustrating it can be.
