They both play a roll in what becomes of your life. Chance plays a roll, not everyone can do whatever they want because of who they are. If you want to be a genius you have the choice to learn as much as you can but you may never be smart enough to be considered a genius. Anything that happens to you which is out of your control is chance and you can't say that these things don't affect your life. Things which happen by chance either limit your choices or if good can increase your choices (like winning the lottery or being at the right place at the right time).

On the other hand you have the choice to make your life into whatever you want...within reason. You choose how to deal with the things which happen to you by chance. Maybe you can't choose anything you want all the time but you can usually make some sort of choice whether its limited or not.

So to sum it all up your destiny or what you make of your life is defined by the choices you make which are either limited or expanded by the chance circumstances which arise in life.

It must be choice that defines your destiny. Even if you believe in chance you are CHOOSING chance to be that which you think defines your destiny. An idea like "chance defines your destiny" can never be proven, you can only CHOOSE to believe in it. Choice is a concept you know exists. It is not a concrete thing you can look at but rather an abstract thing you can participate in. Chance, yes, is also abstract but you can not participate in chance, you can not hold it and you can not prove that it is real. The answer to your question lies with your question. You are asking us as the answerers of your question to make a choice, which defines destiny chance or choice. Since I must choose the answer I know choice exists. We can not be positive that chance exists so does it? Choice, choice, choice is what I choose.

Choice defines your destiny. Even if a thing seems to happen by chance, it merely means you are not aware of the choices of others involved in the event which led to your fortune or misfortune, no matter how small or insignificant they seem to be.
We always have choices, and the consequences of them, which lead to other choices.

Chance...

It's all a matter of chance.

Who you are born to, what DNA you have, where you are born, what happens to you as you grow.

Free will is only an illusion. All your choices are formed by the determinants of your life.

If this is undesirable to you, all I can say is, sorry.

By choice. At least it would be worth your self-esteem-a little bit
