Ok for the past week i have been getting really bad heartburn, i dont even have to drink or eat anything and i get it, tums doesnt help and my doctor said to just drink alot of water its almost over soon. well water makes me even have heartburn. so i went into the doctors yesterday and in 5 days i went from 1 cm dialated to 3.5 cms dialated, he said the baby is really really low and it can litterally be any day now.... up until this morning i hadnt lost my mucus plus, but when i went to the bathroom this morning i seen red on the T.P i started to panic for a min and then realized that it could be the plug, then i seen a chunck on the T.P had some blood in it, like a brownish color, but it was about as big around as a quarter, i was wandering if that was the plug? this is my first baby so i dont know what to look for with that... if this is my plug approx how many hours or days after you loose your whole plug do you start labor???? more to ask but running out of text.....

What you had earlier is called "show." Most generally, contractions will start about 24-48 hours after show, sometimes longer. That very well could have been your whole plug or there could be more. I don't think heartburn is usually a sign of labor, I had heartburn for the whole 9 months. Be prepared because you will be having your baby VERY soon! Good Luck!

It was most likely your plug and is still your plug as long as it is not a clear to white water like fluid, that would be your water breaking.
As for the heartburn it could have just came on, I don't think it has to do anything with labor.
I lost my plug at 34 weeks with my first baby and didn't go into labor until 36 weeks (which my doctor had it stopped) and didn't deliver until 39 weeks when my water broke. I was 3cm dilated from 36 weeks until I went into labor at 39 weeks.

The heartburn is just because your baby has grown again in the last week and is literally squishing your stomach flat and pushing the acid up your esophogus. I had the worst heartburn the last month of my pregnancy...haven't had it one single time since he was born (Try pepcid complete...it was the only thing that stopped it)
And yes that was probably just part of your plug.
And there's no telling...you could be in labor later tonight or you could be in labor sometime next week...you never know.
I was 4 centemeters dialated for two weeks and still no baby, they tried twice to induce me and still no baby. The doctor broke my water and 16 hours later I was a mommy.
Everyone's different and every pregnancy is different...all I can tell you for sure is that baby is coming soon!! You'll be a mamma by Valentine's day...probably sooner!!
Take some Pepcid complete and take a nap on a pile of pillows mamma...it will be the last sleep you get for at least a month! :)

yes it sounds like your plug that you are loosing although not everyone gets to see there's. Don't be surprised if you would go into labor tonight! Although that doesn't always mean you will right off the bat it could be another couple of days hang in there it is almost over. The heartburn I have never experienced it at the last so I can NOT say that is one of the signs and I have had 2 kids and one on the way! CONGRATS!

You had some spotting most likely from the vaginal exam. (Brown means old blood, not bloody show.) If the baby is low and you are already more than 3 cm, it shouldn't be very much longer! Usually, you lose the mucous plug once the cervix is 1-2 cm., but your cervix continues to make mucous, so you will most likely keep seeing more. If you start seeing bright red blood, that is more likely bloody show. Watch for your uterus tightening up, especially with a backache (those are contractions). When they get uncomfortable and are coming more regularly, it's time to head to the hospital. Good luck! I hope it's not long!

Well as for the mucus plug, it shouldnt really be just blood...it should be kinda like a big clear boogie tinged with blood. If you were 3.5 cm dilated yest, you should prolly call your doctor! And if you are getting even the littlest of cramps it could be the start of labor. About the plug, I am 38 weeks pregnant and lost mine 2 weeks ago and am still pregnant so it depends on the baby!

Yes that was the mucus plug, and it might be days even a week or two before labor begins, especially since this is your first baby. Sounds like you will be starting your labor good and dilated though :)
Congrats on meeting your little one soon...

i have had heartburn throughout my entire pregnancy and i'm only 28 weeks. heartburn isn't a sign of impending labor. if what you saw is something that you have never seen come out of you body before, it was your mucus plug. i say the baby will be here by the weekend.

Heatburn is totally common throughout yoru whole pregnancy not just a labor. The plug (yes that's the plug you saw) will break up in bits between now and when you deliver. This could be in a few days or weeks.

mucus plug comes away gradually, especially if not in active labour.with first baby, but this is really just a sign that your cervix is becoming shorter (effaced), not necessarily that labour is imminent. All this is great, though, as slow, gentle progress through these early stages means great progress very easily, and less work for your contractions to do! Good luck!
