I absoultly love wearing high heels and most of my heels are about an average of 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 (?) inches high. I've been told many things about how they are unhealthy for your back and feet, and i heard that by wearing high heels all of the time will give you a hunch back when you are elderly....

Is this true?

I usually wear heels everywhere; church, work, school...
But latley I've been worried that they will ruin my feet and do a lot of unhealthy things to my body, which i don't want.

Does anyone know anything about this?
Please, don't leave any unrealted comments.

Don't worry if you are comfortable wearing heels and not facing any problems. It's been 14-15 years now that I've been regularly wearing high heels (3' - 4") on daily basis (8-10 hrs) and have had no physical problem until now. I'm now so used to wearing heels that I don't feel tired or any pain at all. I'm as comfortable wearing heels as I am in sneakers. But I would like to caution you that never compromise on the quality of your high-heeled shoes/sandals.

It is possible to avoid many of the problems associated with high heels with greater knowledge and care in choosing high heel footwear and wearing them. Knowledge and care can dramatically increase your chances of being able to wear high heels throughout your lifetime. Consider wearing sandals with a strap or lace over the instep rather than slip-ons. This will help stop your foot sliding forward, a bit like a seatbelt in a car. Secondly, be true to your shoe size! If the shoe does not fit, don't buy it, even if it is the most sexyist shoe on planet earth. If you want to do the 4 inch or higher thing, get at least a half size bigger and use either a footpetal (www.footpetals.com) or a gel insole.

Just don’t forget wearing high heels is an art.. make sure you dominate it. Learn how to walk on high heels and the street will be yours ;)

Wear heels wisely...

If you wear heels ALL the time you will face challenges as you get older. However if you alternate the heel height, wear shoes appropriate to the setting/event (Don't wear stilettos to the fair!!) exercise your legs/feet without heels, take care of your feet and toes (pedicures...moisturize) and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, WEAR PROPERLY FITTING SHOES you will be fine. Insoles help for comfort but try the shoes on WITH the insoles before you buy.

Also think about the elderly who are in good shape...most of them have exercised regularly throughout their life.

There's more to aging gracefully than just the shoes you wear. It's a whole body concept. If you take care of the whole the shoes can be an integral part of your life!!

I used to work for a shoe store so the information I tell you is truth. You can have foot and back problems from high heels. Much of it depends upon: a) your weight/height b) how long have you been wearing them c) the shape of your foot and d) the quality of footwear.
If you are slender, that is good because you aren't putting as much pressure on your ankle and foot as compared to a heavier person. The muscles in the foot and ankle are affected by the height of the heel and the weight put on them. Think of it as walking on your toes with
a support under the heel. Nature didn't intend people to walk on their toes. If you take off your hosiery and look at your feet, you will see that the natural shape of the foot is not pointed
at the center toe. Most high heels are pointed at the center thus cramping the toes together.
To minimize the risk of damage to your feet,
ankles and back, it is recommended that you
wear high heels only when necessary.

yeah if you wear them all the time your feet will get messed up and look kind of like barbie feet
thats because when you wear high heels it shortens your achilles tendon (the muscle thing in the back of your ankle)
i'm not sure if theres anything else, but there probably is.
try not to wear them too much and buy some shorter shoes like flats or something with only a small heel. you can still wear heels but just not all the time

High heels will not give you a hunchback bad posture does. How ever it can hurt your back when you are older and can deform the bones in your foot which pinches nerves and so forth. If god intented you to always wear high heels then he would have made your foot to do so.It is okay to wear high heels but excessively.....Nothing should be worn over an inch in great amounts of time. Everything in Moderation!!!!

I would say so. Especially since there is so much stress put on wearing good shoes. They hurt my legs tremendously after wearing them for just a little time. But, oh...they are soooooo cute.
