A key logger is usually a malicious (unwanted) programme that monitors what you type by recognising keystrokes, however they can be used functional, say on a network to study what the users search.

To check the I.P address of the sender of an email go to:

Email options
Headers
Full header option
It will be listed under I.P sender

As you have not stated which email service or software you use I can not be more specific.
I hope was able to help and that this information will aid you.

As far as I am concerned this is the end of the matter. I request that you do not email me concerning this question.

Keylogger is a program which will log (record) all the keys you press on your keyboard without you being aware of it and possibly send it to someone else, like the person who put the program on your computer. By looking at the keys you pressed, they can determine user name, passwords, personal information, etc... pretty much whatever you type on your keyboard.

As far as determining the IP address for an email, I'm not aware of a way you can do that.

Your IP is personal, and another computer user can't find out what it is unless they use the same router or are connected. You can only find out if they tell you.

And just as Arthur B. explained, KeyLogger is merely a 'recorder' of keys.
