Eating plain yogurt is helpful and so is taking an over-the-counter supplement: Acidopholus. I have had to take the supplements whenever I've been on antibiotics since they almost always give me a yeast infection.

You can get medications for yeast infections over-the-counter at pharmacies, Walmart, supermarkets, etc. They do warn you not to use if you have not been diagnosed with yeast infections in the past--as it could be something else that requires a doctors attention.

They say that to avoid yeast infections, you should not douche, not use too many tampons, keep yourself very clean and dry, etc.
They also say not to use perfumed soaps, deodorants, etc. in that area.

You can use over the counter yeast creams. Also eat plenty of yogurt with live active culture to help prevent them or take acidophillus capsules daily. If you are sexually active be sure your partner gets treated even if he shows no symptoms as he may be passing it back to you. Do not take baths, wear only 100% cotton underwear, be sure you pants are not to tight in the crotch and do not douche without a docs ok.

to prevent yeast infections if you are prone to them , take a pill called AZO yeast, that will keep you more balanced and less prone to heavy flair ups. if you already have one start to take this pill and use some creams that are over the counter, this will clear it up so that you wont have to visit the good ole doctor. good luck

Use the 3 or 7 day treatments, and treat your partner. The 1 day stuff doesn't work very well. Also, buy new panties when you get over it and wash them in HOT water every time. Some people can only keep them at bay by maintaining a shaved area.
