That's what family is for ! You can help your parents and they can help you....It shouldn't matter who is helping who in a family. You all work TOGETHER to figure things out.

I went back to college just a few years ago (I'm old), and my 7th grade son helped me with some probability and statistics ! Just a few hours later, I helped him with some pre-algebra ! We BOTH got our homework done, and understood it better because we helped each other !

Also, whenever I help him with his homework, I learn a little something more each time....even if it is a "refresher" for me. It DOESN'T always have to be a "hassle" as some folks make it out to be. BUT, one more VERY important thing....I NEVER just give him the answer. I HELP him figure it out, so he can learn.

I hope that answers your question.

Are you saying that you are doing their homework and need help doing it? Perhaps not.

If you are helping your child to learn and understand the homework that they are doing, then of course it's alright.
If you are doing the homework for them (that includes giving them straight answers) then it is not so good, unless you show them and make sure they recognise how you got the answer, so they are then able to later do it themselves.

Yea, if your kids can help you with your homework then its OK to ask them.

If you think you will lose face by doing so, then ask the question here

Absolutely! I often get my nephew to teach me what he has learned that day and he then understands it better himself. I learn a lot by substitute teaching by getting the kids to help me out, especially in math (my weak point), then I get the other kids to check the work on the board, then I do one myself, asking if I'm on the right track.

It's their homework; why are the parents doing it?

If you can help them and they need it, by all means do. Just do not do the work for them. Also, if you don't know what they are doing, do not try to fake it, just tell them you don't know.

Sometimes when you ask them to teach you it's the best way to teach them.
