A major corporation "hides" wrapped packages under bridges and on the streets of a major American city?
I hope they are financially liable for the costs that the city of Boston incurred taking care of this idiotic marketing ploy.

Somewhere Osama is sitting back laughing at all of us right now as a major American city panics over a childs toy.

Perhaps Osama is laughing, but I'm laughing too.
These things happen sometimes.
I remember a few years ago an eccentric artist type guy left his pickup parked in downtown Seattle. There was a large metal heart in the truck bed, a lot of stuff was painted on the truck, including the words "The Bomb." High-rise buildings were evacuated for blocks. It turned out, "The Bomb" was his name for the truck because it was old and rusty, and there was absolutely no threat. Who knows how people are going to react?

They weren't wrapped, they were freaking litebrites with D batteries powering them. It's viral advertising. It's a kid's toy. The police stopped the city to blow up some magnetic lights. They might as well have staked out someone's Christmas tree.

I'm sure they will have to pay the costs.

The whole thing was overblown.

And why did it take security forces over a week to find them anyway? Maybe the advertisers did the city a favor by exposing their security weakness.

These things were in nine other cities as well. Only in Boston did people go crazy over blinking lights. Not sure who's stupid on this one.

yes agreed but its for a tv show they could have come up with a better way to promote the show and the fact that they have been there fo a couple of weeks just shows how much we as americans pay attention to our surroundingsyeah i feel safe

The stupidity comes from the lack of communication we are still having amongst law enforcement. Ted told someone in law enforcement, but the word failed to spread when needed.

I agree - especially for a broadcast organization - that's about as stupid as you can get. There should definitely be reimbursement.
