Hey,

Im not on my account but i need to know something......about 3 months ago i bought a Dell Dimension e520 with a Pentium D 805 dual core processor......i know quite a bit about computers but not too much about the inside hardware in them, anyways i want to know if i can upgrade my processor to a Core 2 Duo E6300? I have asked Dell if my motherboard supports it and they said yes because my mobo supports dual core, but you know how dell is (they will just tell you anything) Are they correct? sooooo, any advice on if i can upgrade or not..............Thanx alot

you could but you cannot upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit and you will have to find a processor that fits into your socket. You will have to buy the same processor model but maybe with a higher clock.

I believe Dell is correct. If you have a Pentium D then your motherboard will support Core 2 Duo processors.

I currently own a Penitum D processor and my motherboard supports Core 2 Duo.

well actually they are both dual core and have the same socket number 775

ok well you can update your processer right now the best processer is a quad core and costs around 1000$ thats what i have and its awsome.
