I am interested in buying a new carburator for my chevy truck, but I want the most fuel efficient carburator between these two brands.

It is a 350 cu in stock engine with a 4 bbl quadrajet carburator, that isn`t in a very good condition (The engine is very accelerated for a v8, the automatic choke doesn`t work and vibrates a little when iddling). If you have a brand and a model it is better. Please tell me in your answer what is your experience with the particular carburator you are recomending.

the edelbrock is better as far as ease of putting on and running right out of the box, but have you considered rebuilding your quadrajet, it's a very good carb when running right and will probably give you better gas mileage than either one of the other 2 you are considering, the quadrajet has small primaries that you usually use for highway driving which will save you gas and when you want it to run it has large secondaries for the power. Edelbrock also makes a quadrajet replacement carb that you can look into if you want a brand new one.

I've also heard that Edelbrock is the way to go. I know in the old days (in the early 1980's) I had a car with a Holley 650 dual pump carburetor on it.....and kept having problems with it.....the floats keep getting stuck all the time. This has been a constant problem with Holleys. Maybe they've fixed that by now......I don't know. One of my friends is in to cars big time, and swears by Edelbrock.

I recommend the Edelbrock. I own a 77 firebird that had a quadrajet carb that I had to rebuild about once a year. It was a great carb just had to be messed with too much. I had the same problem with my Holley replacement. Great carb when it worked, just had to be messed with too much. I bought an Edelbrock, bolted it on, adjusted the fuel and air mixture once and never touched it again. That was 5 years ago and it still works great. As far as the fuel efficiency they will all be very close if not the same. The biggest key to fuel efficiency is your right foot.

As fuel effecient they are the same when you compare lets say a 500cfm to another 500cfm..... they will be very close.... you wont see lets say an Edelbrock 500cfm get 15mpg and the Holley 500cfm get 25mpg.... that wont happen. If your going with power I would use the Edelbrock..... well after the Quadrajet.... I reccomend the Quadrajet over both the Holley and Edelbrock. I love the big vacuum secondarys.

yes the car starter will work with both of these, both of these vehicles are fuel injected, the difference between fuel injected and carburetor engines is basically the way fuel is introduced to the engine, the last carborated car made in america was in 1991 and the last american carbureted truck made was 1994.hope this helps, oh yes on a manual car if the remote start is installed make sure the car is always in neutral and the parking brake set before using the remote start.
