hm, it needs to equal zero to do anything with it. if it does do this. get to 3(x^2+2/3x)=4, then get to 3(x^2+2/3x+1/9)=13/3, then 3(x+1/3)^2=13/3, then (x+1/3)^2=13/9, then x+1/3=+-square root of 13 over 3, then x=square root of 13-1 all over 3 and -square root of 13-1 all over 3. or x=.869 or -1.535.
